Brisbane City Council issued a development approval for this new house in the Traditional Building Character overlay of the City Plan.

The proposal was to construct a new dwelling house in place of the 2019 approved 4 townhouses. The dwelling was designed to be reflective of pre-war character housing rather than replicative as allowed by the Traditional Building Character Design Code. Examples of ‘reflective pre-war design elements’ elements of the which were integrated into the new dwelling house included pitched roofing, a solid ground floor base, a balcony element and windows of similar proportions.

The permit issued by Council was for:

  • Material Change of Use (Development Permit) for a New Dwelling House in the Traditional Building Character Overlay; and
  • Carry Out Building work (Development Permit) for a New Dwelling House in the Traditional Building Character Overlay.
